The enclosed environmental courtyard and outdoor classroom serves as a natural extension of the school’s learning spaces, providing a place for outdoor instruction, environmental education, hands-on learning, exploration, and daily social gatherings for students and teachers. The master plan includes rain gardens, bio-swales, photo voltaic cells, wind turbines, vegetable gardens, composting centers, green roofs, and the use of recycled, reclaimed, and environmentally conscious materials. The school and its neighboring community members work together to maintain the now established garden on a seasonal basis.
